Harry Potter 7 Part 1 Poster

The Harry Potter film series is based on the seven Harry Potter novels by  J.K. Rowling and, when complete, will consist of seven fantasy- adventure films, with the final instalment split into two parts. The film franchise stars Daniel Radcliff, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as the leading three characters, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

The film adaptation of the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is currently in post-production after the final stage of principal photography was completed on Saturday 12 June 2010. The final book is split into two cinematic parts: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is due out on 19 November 2010 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is due out on 15 July 2011. Producer David Heyman has said that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is being treated as one film, but released as two parts. Part 1 was originally scheduled to be released in 3Dand 2D on it’s individual release date, but Warner Bros., due to a delay in the 3D conversion process, announced it will be released only in 2D and IMAX cinemas. Part 2, however, will be released in 2D and 3D cinemas as it was planned.

The Harry Potter film franchise is the highest grossing film series of all time when not adjusted for inflation, with over $5.4 billion in worldwide receipts. Currently the series consists of six films, all of which are on the all time list of highest grossing films worldwide. The latest instalment, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, was released in cinemas on 15 July 2009.
